London Fashion Week: There’s only one way to get it on at a red carpet event

“You don’t have to be old to get old. You don’t have to be rich to get rich. You can get rich just by being loved. You have to love and be loved before you can be rich.” —Arianna Huffington, via opening monologue at the Net-a-Porter Designers Council Gala The youngest in the crowd were dressed to the nines in column frocks and floral jackets that masked their youthful bodies, and the oldest attended on a sleek red

Segway. No wonder it’s so difficult to get up on a red carpet; you quickly see how much is at stake. But there are other events to attend, too. Many fashionistas are spending in the five-digit range to attend Frieze art fair, which took place over the weekend. Others would likely do exactly the same for a night out at Mayfair’s retro-styled Wildebeest bar, where I found a space that was perfect for long-term

photographic fare. I did not stray too far from my usual haunts: Selfridges in search of a Lanvin showstopper; Café Royal for cocktails; George Street for the evening tours of Hoxton Square. The next few days are going to be busy. But, as former British politician, campaigner and novelist Paddy Ashdown once said, in the words of our host, Arianna Huffington, if you’re too rich for your boots, it means that you should

wear them. ————————- More Reviews Film Review: ‘Teen Titans GO! to the Movies’ Film Review: ‘Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms’ Let the puns begin! —Rebecca Harkins, an industry editor for Business of Fashion.
